Over the years we have done a variety of evaluations and analysis:
Did a cost analysis of an in-house PCB manufacturing operation to see if the
operation should be continued or closed down in favor of out-sourcing the PCB
manufacturing. The analysis showed that the in-house operation was not cost
competitive with outside sources which resulted in the phasing out of the in-house
operation.
Did an estimating program for a sheetmetal shop in BASIC. The shop needed a
consistent methodology for generating quotes. The program incorporated time
and cost parameters for each step of the sheetmetal processing. A simple series
of questions generated the estimate.
Did a marketing analysis of Data Loggers for a local company, specifically
identifying areas, market sizes, and sales approaches for the type of data logger
the company manufactured.
Developed and ran a test fixture to exercise relays to plot contact resistance/life
for a critical application.
Did an extensive statistical simulation and error analysis for the mathematical
algorithyms used in a reverse polish, floating point caluclator. This was written
in Pascal. It used Monte-Carlo tests of all mathematic operations to test the
error limits of each operation.
Have done several independent analysis of manufactured products to identify
product improvements, manufacturing cost reductions, and redesign feasability.
Have been retained to independently review on-going developement projects of
embedded processor designs and test equipment. Primarily our inputs are just
to make sure that the project costs and time frames are reasonable. Sometimes,
it is to help get the design team over a hurdle.
